Rapture (also known as the North Atlantic Project and the Rapture Colony) is a massive underwater city born of Andrew Ryan’s personal desire to escape the political, social, and religious constraints of a post-World War II world. It was first established on November 5, 1946, and the city itself was completed in late 1951. Recently, a Fortnite Creative player named FluxCapacimoose has created a tribute to Bioshock’s underwater utopian experiment Rapture, and the result is quite impressive.
Fortnite Creative Is Flexible Enough To Make A Convincing Tribute To Bioshock’s Rapture
Flux has posted a video walkthrough of their creation, and you can play it in Fortnite with the code 3885-0261-7529. I really like the skin Flux chose for their walkthrough—a vintage diver suit reminiscent of the Big Daddies—and I’m really impressed with how well they captured the Rapture vibe despite Fortnite Creative’s limitations.
Everything is appropriately deco, especially the lighting, which is deep sea bluish-green from the outside and contrasts nicely with the warm and sumptuous interiors. Fortnite’s goofy advertisements are a good substitute for Bioshock’s kitschy alt-history marketing, and Flux even used a more generic Greco-Roman bust to recreate the classic Andrew Ryan banner tableau.
