Ryan blasted Wilson’s immaturity on ESPN’s “Get Up” morning show, saying the former BYU standout “doesn’t get it.”
Zach Wilson was criticized because of his bad form
Wilson’s refusal to accept responsibility for New York’s 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, according to Ryan.
Rex Ryan said: “You always start with I and me.”
Rather than accepting responsibility for the team’s defeat, Wilson stated that he did not feel he let the defense down with his performance. Wilson’s remarks appear to have irritated the defensive side of the locker room.
Garrett Wilson, a rookie receiver for the New York Jets, also expressed his displeasure with how the team’s offense has been performing.
Ryan, the Jets’ coach from 2009 to 2014, believes Wilson’s performance is a major reason why an otherwise talented New York team may miss the playoffs.

Ryan believes Wilson lacks the leadership that his former quarterback Mark Sanchez exhibited as a young signal caller when the Jets made the playoffs in 2009.
Wilson deserved the criticism leveled at him on Sunday, according to Ryan.
“This guy ain’t close to Mark Sanchez, Mark Sanchez took every arrow known to man, whether he deserved it or not.” Rex Ryan added.
“You better step up and be a man. … This kid’s a talent. I’m not worried about the talent. I’m worried about you being a man and understanding your responsibility for this football team as a quarterback.”
