Harry Potter actress Emma Watson appears in Darren Aronofsky’s biblical ‘Noah’ adaption and has spoken on how she changed her look for the role. Emma has natural looking dreadlock hair in the film and says that when filming begun, she actually had a very modern bob haircut. Thankfully, she worked closely with costume designer Michael Wilkinson and the film’s makeup department, and the actress changed her hair by using various hair pieces to create a wild dreadlock hairdo that suited the part perfectly. She adds that she also showered less to make her appearance even more authentic:
“[I was] a bit greasy, didn’t shower too much. I actually had a bob at the time, and obviously that’s not going to work for a biblical movie. So we had to figure out how we were going to adapt that. You could see that it didn’t look very real because I had short hair. My hair and makeup artist was like, ‘Why don’t we just give you dreads?’
Speaking on if the role made her more religious or made her examine that aspect of her life more closely, Emma responded that she always knew she was more of a spiritual person rather than a religious person because she likes to look beyond putting everything in specific boxes and was more interested in the further-reaching element of the story:
“I already had the sense that I was someone who was more spiritual than specifically religious. … I’m really interested in those things that are more far-reaching than culture, nationality, race, religion.”
