Emma Watson has revealed that in between takes while filming ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ Emma and her co-stars Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller began musical jamming sessions to pass the time and cure their boredom – they even performed sets and formed a band they called ‘Octopus Jam’. Emma comments that they had fun making music:
“Throughout the movie we all made music together. Our band was called Octopus Jam. I sing and Logan Lerman is a classical composer, and he created a piece for me. Most nights we would sit and play music, so that was fun.”
Speaking on her idea of romance, Emma reveals that she always thought love ended in tragedy. She believes now that the key to finding a healthy relationship is to know yourself and feel comfortable with who you are. In the past she thought love was all about pain but now knows this doesn’t have to be true at all with the right person:
”When I started dating I had this kind of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, fateful romantic idea about love which was almost that you were a victim and there was a lot of pain involved and that was how it should be. Shakespeare said the course of true love never did run smooth, and I had this sense that it had to be painful. It was such a revelation in ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ to realise that it shouldn’t be that way and that you get to choose who you love and who you decide to give your heart to. It sounds like a cliche but I also learnt that you’re not going to fall for the right person until you really love yourself and feel good about how you are. Well, that was revelatory to me.”
