Fans of the Call of Duty franchise are wondering if they need to purchase a Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription in order to check out the Modern Warfare 2 beta.
Do you need Xbox Live Gold to play Modern Warfare 2’s beta?
Players who have pre-ordered the game for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to try the beta when it first becomes available on Thursday, September 22.
However, an Xbox Live Gold subscription is not required for the time period between September 24 – September 26. Therefore, you will be able to enjoy the open beta for free just like PlayStation console gamers.
PC players who pre-purchased Modern Warfare 2 will need a Steam or Battle.net account to play the beta on September 22. However, it will be available to all PC gamers regardless of pre-order status on September 24.
Do you need PlayStation Plus to play Modern Warfare 2’s beta?
You do not need a PS Plus subscription to play the Modern Warfare 2 beta on PlayStation console . Once you have acquired it, you can immediately jump into the game .
The developers have mentioned that PlayStation console users in Germany will need a PS Plus subscription due to the game’s age rating. This is not a requirement outside of that region.
