Never one to cover up her feelings, Demi Lovato has spoken very candidly on her feelings towards her father’s recent death. Demi, who was estranged from her father, lost him after a battle with cancer. The singer wrote that although putting him to rest was “the hardest thing” she’d ever done, she now feels at peace with his passing:
“Today I put my Daddy to rest…. hardest thing I’ve ever done.. But I know great things will come of this… there’s an overwhelming sense of peace knowing my dad is no longer battling his demons anymore and that makes me so happy.”
Back in 2009, Demi admitted that she hadn’t spoken to her father in two years and that he struggled with alcohol abuse. She said that he continually let her down and broke his promises to her so she eventually decided to cut all ties:
“The last time I talked to him was two years ago, you try to have faith in somebody, even when you’re the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don’t know what to do.”
