The news comes as the Raiders are all but out of the playoffs, and Carr is guaranteed $33 million next season if he is injured. His tenure as the Raiders’ starting quarterback is coming to an end after nine seasons.
The news had an immediate impact on the Raiders’ locker room, particularly on Davante Adams. He discussed Carr’s demotion:

“Obviously, I don’t think anybody was excited about it in here,” Adams said of Carr’s demotion. “Him being one of my really good friends and the reason why I came here in the first place.
“I wouldn’t be here right now if he wasn’t here. … Obviously I support my guy. We’ve got to finish the season up the best way we can possibly with all things considered at this point.”
Adams later elaborated on his ideas on Instagram.
“This man gave everything he had,” Adams wrote of Carr. “The reason I’m a Raider … One of the most disciplined and loving people I know.”
He then used an emoji to express his true feelings. He also stated that he has spoken with Carr since the news broke and plans to speak with him again later Wednesday.
