Harry Potter actor Daniel Rafcliffe has spoken on bumping in to drunk fans in pubs and says he often enjoys listening to their problems. He says he quickly becomes their “confidant” and people often become friendly instantly, even opening up about their family relationships to the actor:
” I’ve been people’s confidant in pubs. Somebody will be drunk and start telling you something about their relationship with their parents. You can end up provoking a huge range of reactions.”
Daniel says that people often give him huge compliments because of his starring role in Harry Potter which he always finds so flattering and he says that it is easy to be associated with the film franchise so heavily because it is only ever nice things that people have to say about the films:
”The most wonderful thing I hear is people coming up and saying, ‘Thank you for my childhood,’ which still blows my mind but it’s very sweet. When people say, ‘What’s it like to be associated with such a big franchise?’ I say, ‘It’s very easy when your franchise is something that is so loved.”
He speaks candidly about fighting against the stereotypical child star image:
”I feel like ‘child-star pr**k’ is the image many people have of actors who started young; that’s the stereotype you’re coming up against.”
