Counter-Strike 2 leaks from Valve have surfaced online

As the release date of Counter-Strike 2 approaches, more leaks appear online. This time, information about the game was “leaked” by Valve. It has been confirmed that it is not a brand-new game, but rather a remake of CSGO using the Source 2 engine. The new version of CSGO might be in the next major content update. “Aquarius,” a developer for SteamDB, says that there are new CSGO files with Source 2 code in the new pre-release branch as of March 14.

Valve’s files in the pre-release branch are linked to the Source 2 engine and its workshop. CS:GO is getting a Source 2 port, which means we can expect some technical improvements but the core game will remain unchanged. The next update will not include the Source 2 upgrade until an official announcement is made, but all leaks point to a release this month.

Leaker “Gabe Follower” stated that, “engine upgrades are not meant to make the game look or play better, they are meant to make it work better and make it easier to develop new content, especially for people from the community. Don’t expect anything unreal.”

The game was also leaked in a Dota 2 patch, where players found game files from CS2, including maps, skins, and keys. Several reports have said that Counter-Strike 2 is real and will be out “very soon.”

Valve’s team has recently prioritized the game, and the team working on the new Counter-Strike game includes members who have previously worked on previous iterations of the Counter-Strike franchise.

Fans discovered Counter-Strike 2 game profiles that were added in February in a recent NVIDIA driver update. According to leaks, the new update will be released around March 28th, putting us just two weeks away from the game’s possible release.
