CMON announced Zombicide: White Death
A sequel to Zombicide’s medieval fantasy spinoff will soon be available on Kickstarter. Details about the new Zombicide game are scarce at the moment, but we do know that it will have a winter theme, with icy zombies and other threats. The allusions to Game of Thrones are strong, with the new game’s setting being “Wintergrad” rather than Winterfell. The reveal trailer is available on CMON’s YouTube channel.
Zombicide is one of CMON’s most popular franchises, and it’s a cooperative game in which players try to complete mission objectives while dodging or holding back waves of zombies. One important aspect of the game system is that zombies and Elite zombie variants continue to flood the board in greater numbers as players gain power over the course of various scenarios, implying that players will not have many opportunities to rest from the onslaught of zombie attackers.
CMON’s first fantasy-themed spinoff of Zombicide was Zombicide: Black Plague, which came out in 2015. Player characters could use melee weapons, traditional (non-gunpowder) ranged weapons, magic spells, and siege weapons. In 2018, CMON released Zombicide: Green Horde, which added Orc zombies and a horde mechanic that could trap players in unexpected places if enough zombie cards were drawn.
Over the past few years, CMON has used Zombicide to collab with various pop culture franchises. CMON released a Marvel Zombies game based on the Zombicide game engine, which included not only superheroes and supervillains forced to collaborate to fight the undead, but also civilians who needed to be protected from zombie hordes. CMON has also released special packs containing characters from Supernatural, Ghostbusters, and The Boys that can be used in Zombicide games.
