Cassidy McGill of Love Island Australia has apologized after an image of her holding a plate covered in white powder went viral on social media.
Cassidy McGill has apologized following the white powder scandal
The 27-year-old wrote in an Instagram Stories post: ‘This past week I’ve been taking time to reflect on my actions.
‘I made a mistake, which I do not take lightly. This behaviour is out of character and I am truly sorry to have let you all down.’
She went on: ‘I am sorry to my friends, family, my team and the brands I represent.
‘I hope over time I can earn your trust and respect back. Thank you to those who have reached out.’
Before, an image of Cassidy holding a plate of white powder has been circulating on social media. McGill accidentally uploaded the photo to Instagram before deleting it shortly afterwards on Wednesday night.
McGill, 27, is seen grinning with her mouth and eyes closed while holding a plate with two lines of a white substance on it and a small bag of powder. As a female friend looks directly down the barrel of the reality star’s camera, she appears to be holding a rolled-up bank note in her right hand.
Cassidy captioned the photograph: ‘Ooops see you tomorrow’
On social media, fans reacted quickly to the image, with one user writing: ‘That’s just disappointing’.
A second person commented, ‘Busted’. While a third person. ‘Babe, we saw it.’
Another remarked on Bartel’s white powder scandal: ‘Nadia Bartel season 2.’
Some fans couldn’t help but notice how similar the apology was to Nadia Bartel‘s apology during the white powder scandal in 2021.
In September, Bartel wrote on Instagram: ‘Hi everyone, I have let you all down by my actions. I take full responsibility and I am committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure I make better choices in future,’
‘To my family and friends, my business partners and the public health workers trying to keep us all safe, I am embarrassed and remorseful.
‘I am truly and deeply sorry. I hope I can earn your forgiveness and, in time, your trust.’
