The LA Rams would find a trade partner for Akers in an ideal world, but they also recognize that he can still help them this season. As a result, if Akers is not traded before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, he is expected to return to the Rams and play for them again this season.
Will LA Rams keep Cam Akers with the team?
The disgruntled running back was never dealt after the clock struck 1 p.m. Pacific, which was the deadline for the Rams and other teams to make trades.
On Tuesday, November 1, the Los Angeles Rams and the rest of the league were uncertain about Cam Akers‘ future.
There will be no deal involving the Denver Broncos for Bradley Chubb (traded to the Miami Dolphins). Kareem Hunt is not getting a package deal (untraded, remained with the Cleveland Browns). According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, no deal involving two first-round picks on the Rams’ side in exchange for Brian Burns of the Carolina Panthers, which also included Akers, was accepted.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler broke the story:
Talked to multiple people around league who believe the #Rams indeed came w/ 2 1s in Brian Burns talks. The #Panthers are holding onto Burns because he's top-10 pass rusher and want to keep young core. But deadline's not over.

However, one NFL insider has revealed the next step for Akers and the Rams.
Josina Anderson, a CBS Sports NFL insider, revealed what is officially next for Akers… and, after all, if it involves a possible return to the “Rams House.”
“New: With RB Cam Akers not traded by the deadline, I’m told Akers is hoping for a fair resolution for his future beyond the Rams, as he feels suiting up for them again this season isn’t in the best interest for his NFL path — though the relationship is still amicable, per source,” Anderson said.
According to the report, Akers has no desire to return to his locker and wear the Rams horns for the rest of the season.

His last game as a Ram was a 22-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on October 9 in Inglewood, where he finished with 13 carries for 33 yards.
Already, in the last two games against the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams have shifted away from Akers.
Darrell Henderson was the RB1 in the 24-10 win over Carolina.
Ronnie Rivers, an undrafted rookie, started for the Rams in their 31-14 loss to the 49ers.
However, before the 49ers game, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed the Rams’ plan if Akers is not traded.
According to ESPN sources: “The Los Angeles Rams are not planning to part ways with Cam Akers if they are unable to trade the third-year running back.”
On Sunday morning, Schefter wrote: “The Rams would find a trade partner for Akers in a perfect world, according to sources, but they also recognize that he can still help them this season. Therefore, if Akers is not dealt before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, he is expected to return to the Rams and play for them again this season, sources said.”
However, according to Anderson’s reporting, Akers indicates that he will not be returning to the field for the Rams.
