Brad Pitt is currently doing the rounds to promote ‘World War Z’ and answered some questions relating to Angelina Jolie’s recent shocking double mastectomy news. Brad says that when the news hit, the couple were feeling better about the situation and so the way the public reacted just made them feel even more positively about what they had went through. He says the way people reacted was a “beautiful thing to watch” and they were moved by it:
“We were really surprised and moved [at] how many other people were dealing with the same issue,” Pitt said. “Her idea was that someone could learn from her story and she would love to share that. I’ve been moved by it from every stage of this thing, especially now, and it seems to be a galvanizing moment for people dealing with this. She’s certainly shown that if you do your research that you can make a decision that’s the best for you. It doesn’t have to be a scary thing. It can be an empowering thing.”
The actor says he used his real-life feelings as a father to put in to the film to make it real. He says he wanted to feel as though he was protecting his children so he put his own fears in to the work to add an element of realism:
“That’s the only thing that keeps me up at night [as a dad], is everyone safe? We tried to make this thing as real as possible when we put in those fears, certainly.”
