Coach Sean McDermott made the announcement Monday, saying it’s unclear whether White will play in Buffalo’s Sunday game against the New York Jets.
Meanwhile, safety Jordan Poyer (elbow) and linebacker Matt Milano (oblique) were injured during the visiting Green Bay Packers’ 27-17 victory on Sunday. There is currently no timetable for either player.
White spent the first three weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list before being cleared to practice. The Bills have until Wednesday to add White to the roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve, according to NFL rules.

White has been a starter for the Bills since being drafted in the first round in 2017 and was named to the All-Pro team in 2019. On Nov. 25, he was injured during a 31-6 victory over New Orleans.
His return will provide a veteran presence in a young defensive secondary for the AFC-leading Bills (6-1), who have matched their best start to a season since 1993.
Dane Jackson, a third-year cornerback who replaced White at the end of last season, has started at one spot. Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford, both rookies, have split time at the other starting spot, which became available after Buffalo lost Levi Wallace in free agency in March.
