The Arcane Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3 presents a tricky challenge for players with its array of deadly Arcane Turrets. Defeating these turrets can seem nearly impossible at first, but with the right strategy, players can conquer the tower.
How to Defeat Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3
The key to defeating the Arcane Turrets lies in understanding their resistances. These turrets have high sturdiness, requiring players to deal at least 10 damage in a single attack. On top of that, they have numerous resistances:
- Slashing damage halved
- Piercing damage halved
- Fire damage halved
- Psychic damage nullified
- Poison damage nullified
However, the turrets do have one key weakness – lightning damage is doubled against them. Utilizing lightning attacks and spells can help defeat the turrets. Focusing fire with your party to deal over 10 damage in one go is key as well.
Completing the tower itself will also deactivate all surrounding turrets, allowing you to avoid fighting them altogether.
How to Complete the Arcane Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3
While it’s possible to fight through the gauntlet of turrets surrounding the tower, there is an easier way.
First, sneak or run past the turrets at the entrance and jump across the mushroom platforms to the south at coordinates X:3 Y:297. Follow the mushrooms to reach ones growing on the tower itself. Jump down, taking a small health loss.
Enter the garden beneath the tower and collect a Sussur Flower from under the glowing blue tree. Take this flower back to the locked tower door at X:52 Y:302. Either pick the lock or squeeze through a hole revealed with a perception check.
Inside, interact with the engine plate and insert the Sussur Flower to provide power. This will turn on the tower’s elevator and disable all surrounding turrets!
Rewards
With turrets disabled, you can now safely explore the tower’s four floors. Here are some key things to find:
- Speak to the robot Bernard on the top floor
- Find quest items for “Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite”
- Start the “Discover the history of Prince Orpheus” quest
- Befriend Bernard by reciting prose (Bard required)
