When they play the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night, the Raptors are trying to improve their chances of making the playoffs.
Updates Injury for Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors will keep playing after the regular season is over, but getting better for the playoffs is still their main goal.
This will be a rematch of Sunday afternoon’s game in Charlotte, which Toronto won 128-108. The Raptors want to win all four games of the season series after winning twice in Toronto over three days in January.
The Raptors (39-39) are going to the play-in round of the NBA playoffs. Getting the No. 8 seed would make it more likely to move on. The Raptors want to make a big push in the last few games.
On Sunday, Pascal Siakam scored 36 points. He has scored more points than anyone else for Toronto in all three games this season against the Hornets.
Siakam got back on track in a big way on Sunday after a three-game stretch at the end of March in which he averaged 19.7 points and shot 42.3 percent from the field.
Charlotte’s problems got worse when VanVleet scored 20 points and set a franchise record with 20 assists. How the Hornets deal with him could be even more important (26-53).
VanVleet said he was glad the Raptors took advantage of the situation.
The Hornets are playing their last games, but since they have a lot of new players, they have a chance to show something.
Recent upset wins by Charlotte hurt Dallas and Oklahoma City’s chances of making the playoffs, but it might be harder to beat the Raptors.
LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr., Gordon Hayward, Dennis Smith Jr., and, most recently, P.J. Washington are all no longer on the Charlotte Hornets.
