Are Ja Morant and Keldon Johnson JOINING today’ game? Injury Report Grizzlies – Spurs

The Memphis Grizzlies will try to recover from its poor performance in Miami by defeating San Antonio on the road on Friday.

Against the Heat on Wednesday, the Grizzlies lost by a score of 138-119, putting an end to their three-game winning streak. San Antonio just suffered a devastating defeat, losing in overtime to Dallas after the two teams had played to a scoreless draw in regulation.

Memphis is hoping to finally put the Ja Morant drama in the rearview mirror within the next week, as the NBA officially made a ruling on an investigation into his conduct.

Earlier this month, Morant showed off a handgun on Instagram Live, but the league later found out that the gun wasn’t even his.

Although he has been suspended for eight games, he will be allowed to return to the team next week after having already served the games he missed without pay.

Despite his absence last weekend, Memphis still managed to beat Golden State and Dallas in three games (twice). The Grizzlies’ streak of victories ended on Wednesday in Miami, where they were defeated 138-119.

  • The Spurs

Including a 16-game losing streak from the end of January to the end of February, San Antonio has been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season.

Since then, however, the Spurs have played better, winning four of their last eight games by double digits. In that span, they went undefeated against Utah, Indiana, Denver, and Orlando and took Dallas to overtime on Wednesday.

With 1:38 to go, San Antonio led 117-114 over the Mavericks after a 3-pointer by Sandro Mamukelashvili, but Dallas responded with six straight points to regain the lead.

In 36 minutes, Keldon Johnson (foot) scored 27 points on 11-of-25 shooting from the field, 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.

Though Johnson was cleared to return from a two-game absence, the Spurs held out four other key rotation players due to rest or minor injuries for the second leg of the back-to-back set.

Johnson had free reign to shoot at will because of these absences, and while he finished with a respectable stat line in points leagues, his poor shooting percentages (especially from 3-point range) and lack of supporting statistics rendered his performance far less impressive.

Johnson, who ranks in the top 75 in points leagues but outside the top 150 in nine-category leagues on a per-game basis this season, is no stranger to hearing that refrain.
