THE MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
After losing to the Clippers earlier in the week, Memphis got back on track and won Friday night to split the two-game set.
The Grizzlies finished the season with a 49-28 record and won the Southwest Division title. With five games left, they were second in the Western Conference standings, two games behind the Nuggets for the top spot.
The Grizzlies average 116.8 points per game on offense this season, which puts them eighth in the league. The team is led by Ja Morant, who averages 26.6 points and eight assists per game.
In Friday’s 108-94 win over the Clippers, Morant just added 10 points (4-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, and four assists in 26 minutes of play.
Late in the first quarter, the Grizzlies fell behind 34-14. It was the energy from the bench that helped Memphis get back in front and win the game. Because of this, Morant didn’t get to play much, and he scored his second-fewest points of the season.
But, fans have nothing to worry about in the future.
For injury, Steven Adams hurt his knee against the Suns on January 22. He has missed the last 31 games. He will be looked at again in early April.
Clarke hurt his Achilles tendon on March 3 against the Nuggets, and he won’t be able to play again this season.
Williams hasn’t played since March 15 when he faced the Heat because of a foot injury. He has missed the last nine games. People say that he is week-to-week.
Konchar missed the last two games because of a hip injury. He is day-to-day.

THE CHICAGO BULLS
On the road Friday night, Chicago beat a bad Charlotte team by a lot. This ended a two-game losing streak and put Chicago back in the win column.
On Saturday, the Bulls were in third place in the Central Division, 18 games behind the Bucks, who were in first place. They were in tenth place in the Eastern Conference and the last team to make the playoffs. However, they were only one game behind eighth-place Atlanta and three games behind seventh-place Miami.

Demar DeRozan played 33 minutes against Charlotte and scored 23 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), had three rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
DeRozan scored the same number of points as Zach LaVine, putting up a game-high 23 points during Friday night’s rout of Charlotte. He made one good shot from far away, but as usual, he did most of his work from midrange.
The six-time All-Star averages just under 25 points per game (24.9), and he also leads the team in assists (5.1) and steals (just over 1.1 per game) this season (1.1).
For injury, Lonzo Ball (knee) has yet to take the floor this season and hasn’t played since January 14, 2022. He has been shut down for the remainder of the season.
