Anna Kendrick has revealed that she accidentally got drunk while filming a scene for new film ‘Drinking Buddies’ which also stars Olivia Wilde, Ron Livingston and Jake Johnson. The actress thought she was downing a fake beer and realized half way through that she was actually getting quite drunk and she had to keep drinking throughout the scene:
“During a scene at the bar, they gave me fake beer, but then during a scene where I’m playing cards with Jake, they gave me real beer, and I didn’t realize it!” she explained. “And so every time I lost, I was pounding beer, and I didn’t realize it was real until halfway through the take. I was like, I’m super drunk right now!”
Anna even embarrassingly had to announce to the cast that she was drunk so she could take a break from filming and had to sit as she sobered up:
“And so as soon as the take was over, I had to announce to everybody that I was drunk at work. I was horrified by the idea that I was going to be the next troublesome star who got drunk and started flipping over tables or whatever. I just tried to sit quietly until I sobered up.”
Her co-star Olivia Wilde recently said that she doesn’t remember filming some of the scenes, but not because she was drinking:
“There are certain scenes I swear I don’t remember shooting. Not because we were drinking too much beer – that was clearly part of it, but because it was improvised it almost flows so much from your subconscious that you don’t have time to judge what you’re saying or doing.”
