Amanda Holden has spoken up about the reasons for the breakdown of her marriage to Les Dennis, her first husband.
Amanda Holden claims the breakup between her and Les Dennis was her fault, but that “women cheat for a reason”
The 52-year-old Britain’s Got Talent star, who was married to presenter Les Dennis from 1995 to 2003, spoke publicly about the traumatic fallout of her affair, saying that she “couldn’t breathe” under the pressure.
Marriage ended in 2000 after it was discovered that the actress had been having an affair with Men Behaving Badly co-star Neil Morrissey, while Dennis was 40 and Holden was only 23.
Holden finally settled down with music producer Chris Hughes in 2008.
Both Lexi and Hollie, the couple’s daughters, are stunning.
Amanda Holden has said that she blames herself for the divorce from her first husband, Les Dennis, but has also defended the practice of extramarital affairs, saying that there is a “reason” for them.
However, that wasn’t the only thing the star was known for doing.
Holden also made the provocative statement that “women have affairs for a reason,” which has sparked a flurry of discussion.
“I found the fall from grace incredibly hard to deal with,” Holden admitted to Express.co.uk in 2009.
“I can’t bear not to be liked. Then I had an affair and overnight turned into this awful person. There are no hard feelings with Les. I wish him the best, but we’ve both moved on.”
But what really startled the nation was Holden’s provocative statement regarding women and adultery.
“I don’t believe women have affairs for no reason. Women don’t seek sex – we seek love and affirmation,” Holden boldly declared.
“If a woman has an affair, there is normally a problem in their marriage.”
She took some of the blame for the breakup, saying,”I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again. It was a very dark time. It got to the point where I felt I could hardly breathe.”
Amanda’s ex-husband, Les Dennis, appears to have poked fun at her online, leading to increased speculation about their relationship.
Holden submitted a stunning photo from Paris with the caption “Paris,” but Dennis responded with a shot from his dressing room and the cheeky comment “Not in Paris.”
Within the city of Leicester.” An online uproar was sparked by the exes’ humorous back-and-forth.
Even after he found out she was cheating on him, she said her ex was the one who “saved her.”
“Les ended up becoming my savior. What she said next was, “Ironically,” emphasis added. To paraphrase, “So the person I’d hurt the most in the world was the one who was there for me.”
Holden kept defending Morrissey and bringing up the issues in her marriage.
“I want to change the general perception of him, as he was very caring and very loving and very worried about me because I lost so much weight.”
