Beyonce has revealed that she believes her music career success came at a price because she had to make so many sacrifices. She says that she worked throughout her childhood to begin laying the foundations so that when she turned 30 she didn’t have to worry about her career anymore. She also feels fortunate to be where she is in life now because she’s reached a great point:
“I worked so hard during my childhood to meet this goal: By the time I was 30 years old, I could do what I want. I’ve reached that. I feel very fortunate to be in that position.”
Speaking on making sacrifices, Beyonce says she has had to work extremely hard to make it work in the music industry and had to tell herself that she deserved the success at the end of it all:
“But I’ve sacrificed a lot of things, and I’ve worked harder than probably anyone I know, at least in the music industry. So I just have to remind myself that I deserve it. I love my job, but it’s more than that: I need it. Because before I gave birth, it was the only time in my life, all throughout my life, that I was lost.”
On coming to terms with being one of the most powerful singers in the world, Beyonce comments that she can’t even digest it but she does know it:
“I now know that, yes, I am powerful. I’m more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand.”
