Jennifer Lawrence seems like a normal girl who is at a nicely average weight, but to her this is something that makes her stand out from the crowd in Hollywood because she is often left feeling “obese” when surrounded by other skinny actresses who weight less than her. She says she is even considered to be a “fat actress” but this doesn’t mean she’s about to lose weight – she insists she won’t lose anything for a part:
“In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress. I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach. I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors. I’m never going to starve myself for a part. I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can’t happen. I’m invincible.”
One of the main reasons she refuses to slim down is because she doesn’t want those who look up to her to feel as though they need to lose weight to look like her. She wants to be like a good role model and maintain what she has, which is something she paid attention to during her training:
“I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner.’ That’s something that I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.”
