Elizabeth Olsen may be the younger sister of the mega famous Olsen twins, but she didn’t use their fame on the way to the top, and has worked hard to make a name for herself in the business alone. The rising actress says she spent lots of time working on being an actress because she didn’t want people to label her from the beginning – she wanted the chance to step out from her sisters shadow and be her own person in the spotlight:
“There’s definitely a reason why I went to so many acting conservatories. The more I trained, the less people could say, ‘Oh, she’s just so-and-so’s sister.’ They can still say that, sure—I have no control over that—but at least I know I’ve worked hard. There was definitely a time when I overcompensated, but I’m kind of over that.”
Elizabeth says her father is very supportive and feels happiest when he sees his children doing the things they want to do the most. He often checks up on Elizabeth and her other sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley at work to see how they’re doing:
“My dad’s greatest pleasure is watching his kids do what they want to do. Nowadays, he loves going to my sisters’ fashion shows or coming to visit me on set.”
