French actress and model Vanessa Paradis, who has been in a relationship with actor Johnny Depp for the past 14 years, has said that she doesn’t like to use the word ‘soulmates’ because it is so strong and means that the love is forever which she isn’t sure of:
”I have a problem with the term soulmates, it scares me a lot. It’s such a strong statement – it’s like a marriage contract. I believe in love and I want to believe that it lasts forever. But I’m like everyone else, you have to take things a day at a time and you can never know what comes next. All you can do is hope and love and live. When you say, ‘This is my soulmate,’ it’s almost like saying, ‘Well, OK, we’re done here.’ ”
Vanessa, who has two kids with Johnny – Lily-Rose, 12 and Jack, 10, does believe in love. She thinks love is so universal and can make you do crazy things. It is something which changes our emotions and motivates us the most. Vanessa believes that love can also hurt too:
”It’s everything that drives us universally. What love makes us do, what love makes us feel, what we do for love and we do because of love – completely. Love hurts and love burns. This is why it’s so powerful – it’s such a universal feeling.”
