Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Void Shadows isn’t a separate game, but rather the first DLC for the turn-based strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. It adds a new storyline integrated into the main campaign, offering roughly 15 hours of fresh gameplay. Players delve into the depths of their voidship to confront a new enemy threatening the von Valancius dynasty from within. The DLC also introduces a new romanceable companion.
Rogue Trader Void Shadows Expansion Delayed to September 24th
Originally slated for an August 8th release, Void Shadows will now set sail on September 24th, 2024.
The delay comes as Owlcat prioritizes polishing the expansion. “We’ve been putting everything we have into the development of it,” the developer said in a statement, “but we now see that while the new additions to the game are awesome, the technical quality is not quite there yet.”
This dedication to a smooth experience extends to both the thrilling 15-hour story arc and the exciting new romanceable companion included in Void Shadows. Players can expect to confront a Genestealer Cult infestation threatening the very core of their flagship – a predicament any Rogue Trader would find most unwelcome.
Looking Ahead: Auto-Leveling and More
The delay of Void Shadows doesn’t impact the development of the next major update for Rogue Trader. This update, expected to arrive around the same time as the DLC, will introduce a highly-requested feature: auto-leveling for characters. This will be a boon for players who found the manual leveling system cumbersome, offering a more streamlined approach to character development.
With the Void Shadows delay, the release window for the second Rogue Trader DLC, currently slated for December 2024, might see an adjustment. However, players can likely expect a more punctual arrival for this upcoming expansion.
