Calling all Azerothian adventurers! World of Warcraft: The War Within has a release date, and it’s time to gear up for a subterranean adventure.
WoW The War Within Release Date
World of Warcraft: The War Within is set to release on Monday, August 26, 2024. Players who have purchased the Epic Edition of the expansion will enjoy early access starting on Thursday, August 22, 2024, giving them a three-day head start.
While players will be able to dive into the new expansion on these dates, the core content that many are eagerly awaiting, including the new raid, Mythic+, and Delves, will arrive with the start of Season 1 on September 10, 2024.
This means that while the base game will be available starting August 22nd or 26th, players will need to wait until September 10th for the most substantial updates.
The end date for Season 1 has not been officially announced, but it’s expected to conclude before the end of the year, potentially in December.
Editions
There are three editions of WoW: The War Within available to suit your adventuring style:
- Base Edition: Grants access to the WoW: Dragonflight expansion and a character boost to level 70, perfect for those eager to jump straight into the action.
- Heroic Edition: Includes all Base Edition content, plus the epic Algarian Stormrider mount and the stylish Stormrider’s Attire transmog set, allowing you to explore the depths in style.

Beta Test & How to Access
The War Within beta kicked off on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. So, if you’ve been itching to explore new zones, test out revamped features, and provide valuable feedback, it’s your time to shine!
There are two ways to secure your spot in the testing phase:
- Pre-order the Epic Edition: Pre-ordering the Epic Edition of The War Within grants you immediate access to the beta, along with other bonus goodies like a character boost and in-game items.
- Opt-in for Beta Testing: Don’t want to shell out for the Epic Edition? No worries! You can still sign up for a chance to be selected as a beta tester by heading over to the official World of Warcraft website. While selection is random, signing up increases your odds of experiencing the expansion early and helping shape its development.
If you pre-ordered the Epic Edition or were lucky enough to be chosen for the beta, you’re good to go! Just follow these simple steps:
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and ensure it’s up to date.
- Select World of Warcraft from your favorites or the Games tab.
- Look for the “Game Version” dropdown menu near the play button.
- From the dropdown menu, choose “World of Warcraft: The War Within Beta.”
- Hit play and dive into the action!
Remember: The beta test is subject to outages and time zone differences. Certain endgame features might also be unavailable during this testing phase.
What to Expect in the Beta?
The beta will allow players to experience a portion of The War Within’s content, including new zones, dungeons, features, and class changes.
