In this guide, we’ll show you how to solve the Red Pillar puzzle and enter Gerudo Town in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Guide – How to solve the Red Pillar riddle
The riddle reads:
“Standing back-to-back with the throne, witness red pillars across a vast sea. Unite the pillars in light to reveal the lighting stone and open the way. You who can hear my voice, come to me. I await you.”
Return to the throne room first. Look out the window from behind the throne. You’ll notice a pillar in the distance. Run down and towards it.
Pillar #1
The first pillar is located directly southwest of Gerudo Town, near coordinates -4036, -3133, 0053. This one is buried in sand, making it simple to use Ascend or climb up. Some breakable rocks can be found in the center of the floor. Break them with a hammer. This will reveal a light that will shine up towards a mirror and illuminate the path.
Pillar #2
Just follow the light beam to the next column. On the way, you should walk by a few big rocks. Using a nearby updraft, glide to a platform with a crank on it. You need to turn the crank quickly, so use Ultrahand or a fan to raise the tower out of the desert until it perfectly reflects the light in a new direction.
Pillar #3
Go to the third tower by following this third beam of light.
If you break the floor, you’ll find some sticks and Hover Stones. With Ultrahand, glue the sticks to one of the Stones and move it as high as you can. Use Ascend on the other Stone to hold it in the air, and then climb to the top yourself. Then pick up the Stone that is covered with sticks and pull it up. Split the sticks apart and use Ultrahand to build the crank. Then, push it until the light is reflected back to the first tower by the mirror.
The final part
After forming the triangle, proceed to the center of the shape to complete the puzzle. Glide north from the third pillar until you reach some ruins with a strange stone protruding from the center. Riju will come with you.
You’ll need Riju’s electricity to turn on the switch, so talk to her and shoot an arrow at the tablet. Following this, the Lightning Temple will emerge from the sand.
Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Guide – How to enter Gerudo Town
When you arrive in Gerudo Town, you will see that it is empty, except for some Gibdos sneaking around. When you go into the cave in the middle of the stairs to the throne room, you will see a Gerudo woman guarding a bunker. Link is a guy, so it’s clear that they won’t let him in.
You’ll get a hint on where to go next if you use Ultrahand on the nearby box and jump on it, but you can skip this if you don’t care.
Return to the outside and jump into the well to the left of the bunker, if you’re facing the entrance. Swim upstream, toward where the letters-in-a-bottle are drifting. Ascend once you reach the well’s end (where there’s a vase on a rope). Ta-da! You’ve now shocked and terrified a large number of women by invading their war bunker.
After some explanation, you’ll be able to stay, and if you talk to the guards, you’ll be able to come and go from the Gerudo Shelter as you please.
This brings us to the end of this Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide.
