Final Fantasy 9 has been temporarily removed from the Amazon App Store, but there is no need for fans to freak out as it’s only for a limited time.
Final Fantasy 9 has been removed from the Amazon App Store
To be more specific, the Amazon App Store no longer features Final Fantasy 9. There has been no indication that any of the other versions of Final Fantasy 9 will be discontinued any time soon. As for the Amazon App Store, Square Enix has stated that Final Fantasy 9 will be made available again in the future.
Final Fantasy 9 was the final Final Fantasy game released on the original PlayStation console in 2000. Since then, Final Fantasy 9 has developed a cult following, but it has been overshadowed by the more popular Final Fantasy games that came before and after it. However, Square Enix has done its due diligence in keeping Final Fantasy 9 available. It may not be as popular as Final Fantasy 7 or Final Fantasy 10, but Square Enix appears to recognize its popularity and makes it available on a variety of platforms.
Final Fantasy 9 is an old game, so it might make sense that it doesn’t work perfectly on every system it’s on. Even though it was updated for mobile platforms not too long ago, it’s not like a new version has been released. But, hopefully, this explains why Final Fantasy 9 launched with significant technical issues on the Amazon App Store. That is also why Square Enix has removed Final Fantasy 9 from the Amazon App Store while it resolves the issues.
We’re aware of an issue affecting cloud saves for the Amazon App Store version of Final Fantasy IX.
We’re temporarily removing the game from the store while we fix this issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

According to an online post by Square Enix, the Amazon App Store port of Final Fantasy 9 did not support cloud saves. Given that saving the game is especially important in a game as long as Final Fantasy 9, Square Enix decided it wasn’t playable. This is the problem that Square Enix is working on, and hopefully, they will re-release Final Fantasy 9 once the fix has been completed and tested. As of right now, no timetable has been provided.
Those who have already purchased Final Fantasy 9 from the Amazon App Store will have access to it until further notice. Obviously, you won’t be able to use the cloud storage option. It’s an unusual step to completely remove the game, but Square Enix must have felt that this was the best solution for both players and the game. Given rumors of a Final Fantasy 9 remake in the works, Square Enix is probably trying to avoid as much controversy as possible.
