Updates Injury for Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns
When the Suns host the Wolves, Kevin Durant will make his return.
On Wednesday against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns should have their star player, Kevin Durant, back in the lineup.
Durant, who was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets at the trade deadline last month, sprained his left ankle during pregame warmups on March 8. He only played in three away games.
Without Durant, the Suns are just 4-6, but they are still in fourth place in the Western Conference and in the playoff hunt. The two-time Finals MVP has been eagerly awaited by Phoenix Suns fans.
“I always use the term ‘checking the boxes,'” Suns coach Monty Williams said of Durant’s comeback journey. “You have to get the pain and swelling out and all of that and then you progress onto the floor with shots. And I’ve seen him go from cardio to shooting to be able to get up and down a little bit and get himself prepared to go to the next level.”
The Suns are on an upward trajectory, and the addition of Durant is timely. On Monday, the Phoenix Suns continued their winning streak by defeating the Utah Jazz, 117-103 led by Devin Booker’s 24 points.
Booker has led the Suns in scoring without Durant, averaging 31.7 points in 10 games, but the bench has helped Phoenix win the last week.
Phoenix is currently riding a three-game win streak against Minnesota, whose 39-37 record has them vying for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

With Monday’s 119-115 victory over the Sacramento Kings, Minnesota’s winning streak moved to four games.
The Wolves were led by Jaden McDaniels’s 20 points. Karl-Anthony Towns sat out to rest his strained right calf, but he will play against the Suns.
Minnesota played the second game of a back-to-back against the Kings on Monday without Towns, but he should be ready to go on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Anthony Edwards (ankle) will join the list of questionable players.
In the victory over the Kings, Naz Reid scored 18 points, Anthony Edwards added 17, and Rudy Gobert had 16 points and 16 rebounds.

For the second time in his last six games, Gobert finished with at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The veteran center has posted those numbers while playing an average of 33.8 minutes per game: 14.8 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 blocks.
Gobert has confidence in his team because “we know we have the talent and personnel to be able to beat anybody on any given night.” “In all seriousness, for the sake of uniformity and speed. Each and every game is treated as if it were the last, and we leave everything on the field. We need to adopt that frame of mind.”
Despite a strained right calf, Edwards should play against the Suns on Wednesday.
After starting the last two games, Edwards is penciled in to take the field again on Wednesday. Over his last 10 games, the star point guard is averaging 22.6 points, 5.3 boards, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in 34.3 minutes.
