On Friday, the Washington Wizards will host the San Antonio Spurs, hoping to end a losing streak of four games. The game will begin at Capital One Arena in Washington at 7:00 p.m. EDT tonight.
The Wizards have a 32-41 record, while the Spurs have a 19-54 mark. In January, Washington won 127-106 in San Antonio against the Spurs.
Spurs vs. Wizards injuries: long list for San Antonio
THE SPURS
San Antonio are just playing out the string at this point with a record of 19-54, which is second worst in the Western Conference. The losses keep piling up as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games including a 130-94 beat down by the Bucks in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
In the game, San Antonio was led by Devin Vassell (16 points) and Keita Bates-Diop (14 points). Jeremy Sochan contributed 13 points and seven boards, and Zach Collins scored 12 points and pulled down seven boards.
Keldon Johnson, who leads the Spurs in scoring at 21.8 points per game, and sharpshooter Doug McDermott are both doubtful for Friday’s matchup.
Johnson missed Wednesday’s game against the Bucks for the second consecutive game with neck soreness.
Although the Spurs appear to be continuing to rotate absences late in the season, it appears that he should be back in the lineup on Friday. However, a number of players are also questionable or out for Friday’s game.

THE WIZARDS
The Washington Wizards are watching their hopes of making the NBA play-in tournament slip away.
A couple of weeks ago they were within the top 10 and looked primed to compete in the tournament. The Wizards were ranked in the top 10 before a current skid of 4 losses in a row and 7 losses in their last 8 games.
They dropped from 10th to 12th in the conference, with a 32-41 record, 2.5 games behind Chicago in the standings.
The Wizards need a win badly as we enter the final stretch of the season.
Due to a knee injury, Bradley Beal will not play against the Spurs on Friday.
Beal missed Wednesday’s game against the Nuggets, the second of a back-to-back set, and will do so again Friday against the Spurs.
With Kyle Kuzma (ankle) still sidelined, the Wizards will continue to lean on Jordan Goodwin, Corey Kispert, Johnny Davis, and Deni Avdija.
