The New York Knicks will try to bounce back from a loss to Minnesota when it travels to Miami on Wednesday night. The Knicks won three straight games last week before falling to the Timberwolves. Meanwhile, Miami has won three of its last four games, beating Detroit by 12 points on Sunday.
The latest injury update for New York Knicks and Miami Heat
On Wednesday, the Knicks will travel to Miami to take on the Heat, reviving a heated rivalry between the two teams.
New York is 2-0 against Miami so far this year. On February 2, New York beat the Heat 106-104 on the road after Tyler Herro missed a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Even though the Knicks were without starting point guard Jalen Brunson and starting center Mitchell Robinson, RJ Barrett still managed to score 30 points.
The rematch occurred in Miami on March 3, and the Knicks won 122-120 on a 3-pointer by Julius Randle with 1.7 seconds remaining.
With his high level of intensity throughout the season, Randle has averaged 33 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the two games he’s played against Miami this year. In terms of team statistics, Randle is first in New York in points per game (25.6), second in boards per game (10.2), and second in assists per game (2.7). (4.1).
When the New York Knicks hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, the final score was 140-134, despite a career-high 57 points from Randle. In the third, Randle scored 26 points, an all-time high for his team.
Randle scored New York’s first 50-point game since Carmelo Anthony’s 2014 performance, shooting 19-for-29 from the field (8-for-14 on 3-pointers).
There has been a three-game winning streak for both the Knicks and the Heat.
On Sunday, Miami defeated Detroit 112-100 on the road thanks to 19 points from guard Omar Herro, 10 of which came in the game’s final 3:20.
With a home record of 24-13 this season, the Heat will host two games this week, including Saturday’s matchup with the Brooklyn Nets.
After that, the Heat will finish their season series against the Knicks on the road on March 29.
Herro has averaged 27.0 points and 7.0 assists in Miami’s two games against the Knicks this season, while Bam Adebayo has scored 25.0 points and Jimmy Butler has scored 21.0 points.
Jimmy Butler has been Miami’s top scorer (22.7 ppg) and steals leader (13). (1.9). Adebayo is second in scoring and first in rebounds (9.4) (21.1). Moreover, Herro is third in both scoring (20.2) and assists (5.7). (4.3).
Butler led the Bulls to a 112-100 victory over the Pistons on Sunday, scoring 26 points (8-11 from the field, 10-10 from the free throw line), dishing out 10 assists, grabbing 4 boards, and stealing 1 ball in 35 minutes of action.
Butler recorded his tenth double-double of the season and first since March 6 by setting a new season high in assists.
The 33-year-old is averaging his most points (22.7 per game) and shooting his highest percentage (53 percent) from the field since 2016-17. However, the most impressive aspect of Butler’s recent production may be the fact that he has simply been on the court.
With 58 total appearances this season, he has already matched his highest total from any of his first four years with the Heat. He has started 35 of the Heat’s 36 games since the new year began.
Tyler Herro will be tasked with guarding Knicks point guard and team assist leader Brunson (6.2 per game) (23.8). Currently, Brunson is making 83.6 percent of his free throws and 51.3 percent of his two-pointers while shooting 41.3 percent from deep.
