The Boston Celtics will play in Minnesota against the Timberwolves on Wednesday. This is the rematch of an earlier regular season matchup, which the Celtics won 121-109.
Celtics vs. Timberwolves injuries: 4 Questionable, 4 Out
-
The Celtics
Before tonight’s game, the Boston Celtics were defeated by the Houston Rockets by a score of 111-109. They had trouble scoring, and they’ll need to get hot from the field to beat the T-Wolves on the road.
The Celtics are 2.5 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference. And in their last 10 games, they’ve gone just (5-5).
- Jayson Tatum – Ready
With 22 points (8-22 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal in 41 minutes of Monday’s 111-109 loss to the Rockets, Jayson Tatum once again served as the team’s offensive leader.
On Monday, despite having some shooting trouble, Tatum scored 22 points. On the bright side, his assist totals have been through the roof as of late.
The superstar forward is averaging 4.8 assists per game on the year, but he has averaged six or more in 11 of his last 15 games.
- Robert Williams III – Out
Robert Williams III will not play against the Timberwolves on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury.
Williams’ left hamstring strain will force him to sit out for a sixth consecutive game on Wednesday. In his absence, the minutes played by Mike Muscala and Blake Griffin should be maintained at high levels. Williams will have another opportunity to play on Friday when the Blazers host the Trail Blazers.

The T-Wolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 136-115, in their previous game. They looked great on offense, which is crucial for their chances of beating the Celtics in Boston.
The Timberwolves are 11.5 games behind the Denver Nuggets and currently sit in seventh place in the Western Conference. They’ve split their last 10 games, also evenly.
- Rudy Gobert – Doubt
Rudy Gobert’s status for Wednesday’s game against the Celtics is in doubt due to a sprained left ankle.
He played all 30 minutes of Monday’s 136-115 victory over the Hawks and contributed 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-5 FT), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal.
Gobert’s day started off uncertain as he dealt with a left ankle sprain, but the veteran center played his usual number of minutes and showed no ill effects.
Since the All-Star break, Gobert has played in seven games, averaging 16.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals on 63.9% shooting from the field.
Considering that Naz Reid (left calf) is also doubtful for Wednesday’s game, Luka Garza and Nathan Knight may see increased playing time if they both end up on the sidelines.
