The Dallas Mavericks will play for the first time since Wednesday when it travels to Memphis on Saturday night.
The Mavericks have alternated between wins and losses in each of their last five games. Memphis, meanwhile, snapped a three-game losing streak with a 131-110 win against Golden State on Thursday.
Mavericks vs. Grizzlies injuries: 6 Questionable, 5 Out
Dallas has not been as successful as it had hoped to be at this point in the season due to its inability to maintain any sort of consistency.
Although the Mavericks went on a seven-game winning streak at the end of December and five-game winning streak in February, neither of those streaks have been maintained. Seven of their last 10 games have ended in defeat, most recently on the road against New Orleans on Wednesday.
The 12 games Dallas has played with star guard Kyrie Irving from Brooklyn have resulted in a 5-7 record, despite the Mavericks having the fifth-best offense in the NBA.
- Will Doncic and Irving playing vs. Grizzlies?
Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News reports that Luka Doncic is day-to-day with a left thigh strain and will miss Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Reportedly avoiding serious injury, Doncic will sit out Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies after suffering a left thigh strain in Wednesday’s loss to the Pelicans in New Orleans. Doncic’s next chance to suit up is Monday’s rematch with the Grizzlies.
As a result of his absence, Tim Hardaway, Frank Ntilikina, and Justin Holiday could be given larger roles.
At the same time, right foot soreness has made Kylie Irving (personal) questionable for Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Irving wasn’t at Friday’s practice due to a personal matter, but he’s being labeled questionable Saturday because of a foot issue instead.
With Luka Doncic (thigh) already out, his potential absence would be even more devastating. Without them, Frank Ntilikina, Jaden Hardy, and Theo could see increased playing time.

Before beating Golden State by 21 points on Thursday, Memphis dropped its final three games of a four-game road trip.

A lengthy league suspension still looms over the 23-year-old, so he will sit out at least three more games. In addition to the allegations that he punched a teenager and threatened a mall security guard, this was the third incident involving Morant that took place away from the court recently.
He averages 27.1 points, 8.2 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game to lead the Grizzlies.
