After suffering its first loss of the month on Tuesday, Denver will look to get back on track on Friday in San Antonio.
Before Wednesday’s 117-96 loss to the Bulls, the Nuggets had won four straight games. Although San Antonio managed to win twice last week, they were swept by Houston over the weekend.
The latest Injury Report for Denver Nuggets – San Antonio Spurs
On Friday, the Denver Nuggets will travel to San Antonio to play the Spurs, who are currently in last place in the Western Conference.
Having lost 117-96 to Chicago in Denver on Wednesday, the Nuggets (46-20) now travel to the Alamo City looking to get back on track.
In Denver’s loss, Nikola Jokic scored 18 points, grabbed 12 boards, and dished out eight assists, but he only shot 7-for-16 from the field. This ended a streak of 51 games in which he made at least half of his shots from the field.
There were 17 points scored by Aaron Gordon, 12 by Michael Porter Jr., and 11 by Jamal Murray. With 96 points, Denver scored at its second-lowest rate of the season.
At the break, Denver had a one-point lead, but Chicago quickly took the lead. Despite getting as close as five points late in the third, the Nuggets were ultimately unable to mount a serious comeback.
With a 7 game lead over Sacramento and Memphis in the West, Denver entered Thursday with an 8-2 record. Denver can’t afford to lose to San Antonio right now because it would put them 1.5 games behind Milwaukee in the race for the best record in the NBA.
Two of the three games between Denver and San Antonio this season have already been decided, with both coming in early November.

The Spurs are coming off a four-day vacation and two straight losses to Houston (142-110 on the road on Sunday being the most recent) in their matchup tonight.
San Antonio was led by Keita Bates-17, Diop’s while Charles Bassey and Devonte’ Graham both chipped in 14.
Jeremy Sochan, Tre Jones, and Zach Collins were all out for the Spurs with injuries (right knee).
San Antonio’s Sunday loss was due in large part to poor defense, as Houston shot 61.2 percent from the field. As a result of allowing 74 points in the paint and 34 points in transition, the Spurs dropped their 18th straight game.
Despite San Antonio’s historic slump, the Spurs still hold a one-game lead over Houston in the Western Conference’s cellar with a month still in the regular season to play.
The Spurs’ desire to rebuild and a string of injuries have all but ensured that they will have one of the top three picks in the NBA Draft this June, as was projected before the season.
On Friday, Keldon Johnson hopes to play in the game.
