A pair of teams from the Central Division take the floor in search of a victory on the shores of Lake Erie. The Detroit Pistons are on the road as they make the trip to face the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday night.
Pistons vs. Cavaliers injuries: 5 Out, 2 Questionable
Detroit rallied only to fall just short as they were beaten 117-115 by Chicago at home Wednesday night, while Cleveland lost 117-113 to Boston on the road. Both teams tried to come back, but it wasn’t enough.
The Pistons have won more regular-season games than the Cavaliers, 132 to 100, but the Cavaliers have won the last four games in a row, three of which have happened this season.
- Update injury status Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell (groin) isn’t listed on the Cavaliers’ injury report for Saturday’s game against the Pistons.
Mitchell hurt his groin in Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics, but he took part in all of Friday’s practice and won’t miss any games because of it.
Mitchell has played in four games since the All-Star break. In 35.5 minutes per game, he averages 30 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals.
- Darius Garland – Ready
In the 117-113 loss to the Celtics on Wednesday, Darius Garland scored 29 points (12-21 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 0-3 FT), had three rebounds, nine assists, and four steals in 41 minutes of play.
Even though his team lost, Garland was great on both ends of the court. He almost had a double-double, came close to tying his season-high in steals, and scored 20 points for the fourth time in his last five games.
Even though Donovan Mitchell is the Cavaliers’ best offensive player, the numbers show that Darius Garland is one of the best supporting players in the league. In his last 10 games, he has averaged 22.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
