With All-Star Weekend in the rearview mirror, the NBA regular season is gearing up for the stretch run that leads into the postseason. The Celtics have an away game against the Pacers scheduled for this coming Thursday.

The Boston Celtics’ focus this season will be on securing the Eastern Conference’s top seed and making another run at the NBA Finals. For Indiana, that means a fight to make the playoffs in the play-in round.

Two of the NBA’s brightest young stars will face each other Thursday night when point guard Tyrese Haliburton and the host Indiana Pacers take on forward Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics.

Sunday was Haliburton’s first All-Star Game. He has 19.9 points per game and is fourth in the NBA in assists (10.1).

He is on track to break Mark Jackson’s franchise record for most assists per game (8.7 in 1997-98), and he could become the first Indiana player to lead the league in assists.

Haliburton led his team with 33 points and eight assists when Indiana beat Boston 117-112 on the road on Dec. 21. It was the first time the two teams played each other. In the first quarter, the Pacers scored 42 points and had a 30-point lead over the Celtics. In the first half, they were able to hold off the Celtics. Tatum scored 41 points to lead the Celtics in their loss.

The Boston Celtics will play again this Thursday, and they will be looking to clinch the Eastern Conference’s top seed. Since the return of Marcus Smart and the impending return of Jaylen Brown (with mask in tow), the Celtics’ roster is healthier than it has been in months.

Jayson Tatum has just set a new all-star game record for points in a game with 55, and he has just come off an MVP performance. Boston is ready to go now that head coach Joe Muzzalla is no longer considered interim.

Tatum scored a record 55 points in Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game and was named the game’s MVP. He is sixth in the NBA with an average of 30.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

Robert Williams III (ankle) is not listed on The Athletic’s injury report for Thursday’s game against the Pacers.

Williams wasn’t able to play in Boston’s last game before the All-Star break, but he will play right away after the break.

In his last game, he came off the bench and only played for 13 minutes. It wouldn’t be surprising if he started Thursday’s game and played for a longer amount of time.
