Throughout the offseason, the New York Yankees have been linked to free agent Carlos Rodon.
The Yankees are preparing an official offer for Carlos Rodon
The Yankees are expected to make a formal offer on Monday or Tuesday, according to John Heyman of the New York Post.
He went on to say that Rodon is looking for a seven-year deal worth more than $200 million.
“The initial indication is that Rodon seeks seven-plus years $200 million plus,” Heyman stated. “While the Yankees seem reluctant to go that length, they also seem very serious and hopeful about this pursuit.”
Aaron Judge has already been signed by the Yankees. Signing Rodon to a long-term deal, on the other hand, would give New York a potent 1-2 punch at the top of their lineup, with the former Giant joining Gerrit Cole.
Rodon would strengthen the starting rotation for a Yankees team vying for the World Series.
Rodon is regarded as one of the top free agent signings this year. He is coming off a 14-8 season with a 2.88 ERA and a 237/52 K/BB ratio. He had the third most strikeouts and the MLB’s 12th lowest ERA.
Carlos Rodon has a 56-46 record with a 3.60 ERA and a 947/319 K/BB ratio in his eight-year MLB career. Rodon has re-invented himself in the last two years with the White Sox and Giants after struggling for the first six years in the big leagues. Rodon has a 27-13 record with a 2.63 ERA and a 422/88 K/BB ratio over the last two seasons.
