UPDATE: Pitts has practiced every day this week and is listed as questionable as of Friday. He should be on the questionable side, but they could always give him another week off.

UPDATE: According to Michael Rothstein, Pitts was back at practice on Thursday. He’s on track to face a tough 49ers defense.

UPDATE: Kyle Pitts said on Wednesday that he expects to play in the Falcons’ game against the 49ers on Sunday.

According to NFL Network’s James Palmer, Pitts (hamstring) returned to practice on Wednesday.

The second-year tight end was limited in practice on Wednesday but expects to be ready for the 49ers game on Sunday. Pitts is expected to rebound from a slow start to the season with 10 receptions (22 targets) for 150 yards.

Pitts remains one of the league’s top tight ends and should be considered a low-end TE1 this week.

Due to a hamstring injury, the Atlanta Falcons were without their first-round tight end in Week 5.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter, Pitts will return to practice on Wednesday. Pitts did not practice last week, so this is a promising sign.

Pitts, of course, hasn’t lived up to fantasy football assumptions this season because he’s not getting a full look in the passing game. He is commonly used to block or is not part of the offensive scheme.

He’s still getting deep targets, which is great, but his route running needs to be on par with Drake London’s, because he’s that good offensively.

Pitts is difficult to start in fantasy due to his poor numbers, but his upside remains high thanks to his deep targets thus far. If he’s healthy this week, he’ll be in the running to start, but only if your team lacks a reliable tight end.
