The M4 is one of the most accessible weapons in Modern Warfare 2 and packs a powerful punch at both long and close range. However, issues with recoil and hip fire accuracy keep it from being perfect right out of the box. Our best MW2 M4 loadout, which includes the best attachments and class setup recommendations, will solve that problem.

Best MW 2 M4 Loadout
Because the M4 is a dependable and trustworthy assault rifle, you’ll want to select attachments that keep it on target while minimizing drawbacks.
- Ammunition: None
- Barrel: Tempus Hightower 20″ Barrel
- Laser: 4MW Laser Box
- Magazine: None
- Muzzle: None
- Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot
- Rear Grip: XTEN Grip
- Receiver: M4
- Stock: Demo Fade Pro Stock
- Underbarrel: None
To begin, the Tempus Hightower 20′′ Barrel is at the heart of this M4 loadout, providing significant increases in bullet velocity, damage range, recoil control, and hip fire accuracy.
The 4MW Laser Box is our second attachment, and it improves hip fire accuracy and recoil control, allowing you to remain agile and react to any enemies. It also compensates for the barrel’s loss of hip recoil control and hip fire accuracy.
You’ll need an optic because the gun’s recoil and the difficult-to-use iron sights aren’t fun to deal with. Cronen Mini Red Dot is an good option.
Following that, we recommend the Demo Fade Pro Stock, which will give you some much-needed boosts to your sprint and aim walking speed. Finally, the XTEN Grip will give you some minor speed boosts when sprinting to fire and aiming down sight. It does reduce recoil control, but only slightly, so it’s barely noticeable.
Best MW2 M4 loadout perks and equipment
When selecting your perks, make sure to include base, bonus, and ultimate perks that work well with the attachments and loadout you’ve builed for your gun. That is why we recommend using Double Time to improve your run and gun skills with the M4 and E.O.D.
Because explosives deal a lot of flinch damage and general damage, E.O.D will help keep you on target when grenades come down your sightline.
For the bonus perk, equip Fast Hands to increase the weapon’s reload speed, which is currently a little too slow for our liking. This will keep your gun up more frequently and keep you from being caught off guard.
For the ultimate perk, you’ll want Ghost, which is still as powerful as it has always been. Even if it means having to wait until later in the game to get the buff.
Equip the stun grenade to disorient your enemies and catch them off guard from a distance, and the Semtex as a backup trust grenade. We recommend using the Battle Rage field upgrade, which will temporarily increase your sprint speed while also keeping your health regenerating and you alive while fighting.
