We’ve all become used to heavily photoshopped beauty campaigns that aren’t particularly realistic, but beauty company L’Oréal Paris are hoping to at least somewhat reverse the trend while simultaneously promoting beauty at any age. They’ve selected 69-year-old actress Helen Mirren as their new face, creating natural looking images for their new campaign. Helen says that she never believed she was “gorgeous” but thinks L’Oréal can make a difference to maintain what she does have:
“I am not gorgeous and I never was, but I was always OK looking and I’m keen to stay that way.”
Helen thinks the company do a great job of empowering women to feel good about themselves and she says she has always been a big fan:
“I have always loved the L’Oréal Paris brand, and I hope I can inspire other women towards greater confidence by making the most of their natural good looks. We are all worth it!”
The actress recently admitted that while she wears makeup on a daily basis, she often feels that a natural look is better for older women and she usually ends up taking off the makeup she has applied because she can see it doesn’t suit her as much as it used to:
“I wear make-up every day. I love putting it on, and I get really into it: a little bit of this here, a little bit of that there – but then I stand back and look in the mirror and it’s awful! It’s absolutely true that, as you get older, you have to wear less and less make-up.”
