Givenchy head designer Riccardo Tisci has had a soft spot for Kim Kardashian since he was introduced to her by Kim’s fiancé Kanye West. He has now dressed her on several occasions, including for the MET Ball 2013 where she wore a custom Givenchy floral gown while pregnant on the red carpet. Tisci has now branded Kim as a modern Marilyn Monroe, gushing that the reality star is different to what people think. He compliments her further by stating that she is a “tough and clever” woman:
“I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend. I just wanted a moment with her to understand – and I fell in love. She’s the Monroe of our age. People think she’s like a doll, but actually she’s tough and clever.”
Riccardo is known for having many muses who are also his close friends including singer Ciara, model Mariacarla Boscono and most recently, musician Erykah Badu, who stars in Givenchy’s latest campaign images. Speaking on what inspires him about people, Tisci comments that he loves passionate people who are individual and not afraid to speak their mind:
“It’s not so much the beauty of people, but the talent, the roots and the intelligence that concern me. I love people who are not scared to fight for their own rights and have their own point of view. The world is big: the music world is big, the art world is big and the fashion world is big, but I think you can recognise a tribe in the similarity of people.”
