While some celebrities use pregnancy as a time to embrace cravings and eat what that feel like without being criticized for piling on the pounds for once, these 5 celebrities don’t believe in eating junk food during their pregnancies. Some did allow themselves to eat whatever they wanted during their first pregnancy but found that they put on unnecessary weight so for their second pregnancy they decided to be healthier. Others just feel that they want to give their babies the best nutrition possible during this important time of growth so they adopted organic or even vegan diets to try to support their children. Doing their best to kick cravings, these stars have all opted for healthy diets during their pregnancy.
Alicia Silverstone
Alicia ate organic vegan food during her pregnancy and credits her diet for making the time so easy for her: “I feel amazing. I’m so in love with my little man. He’s so delicious I can’t stand it. I thank God that my organic, plant-based diet made every step of pregnancy, birth and these first weeks of Bear’s life go so smooth and lovely.”
Holly found her body’s changes weird during pregnancy but did her best to stay healthy:”I’m just getting used to this whole new body. It can be very awkward. My boobs haven’t really gotten bigger but I just recently started having back pain, which sucks because I can’t take anything for it. I’ve gained about 19 pounds which is pretty normal. I feel good – like I’m healthy and really where I’m supposed to be. I’ve been trying to eat healthy for the baby, a lot of green smoothies and fruits and vegetables. And I have pregnancy-yoga and Pilates DVDs that I do as much as I can.”
Jessica pigged out on junk food for her first pregnancy but the second time around she is doing things differently: “The first pregnancy I… let loose and I kind of ate everything that I wanted to eat and I just really enjoyed it. This time around I think because I was doing WeightWatchers and I felt super healthy, I’m not really craving as much and I know how hard it is (to take the weight off) so I’m trying to make healthier, wiser decisions.”
Kim is currently expecting her first child and is trying to eat only the best food for her child: ”I used to always say I can’t wait to get pregnant because I will just eat whatever I want, but it’s completely different. I’m like, OK, I want to eat as healthy as possible. ‘Lately I’ve been watching shows like ‘I’m Pregnant And Addicted To Meth’. It definitely makes me feel better if I’m wanting one sip of Diet Coke or, you know, too much sugar.”
In 2007 during her pregnancy, Nicole changed her diet to be very healthy for her baby’s sake: “Do I eat is kinda like an understatement; I eat all the time, especially now. I’m constantly hungry; I’m eating at least every hour. Just like any mother, you want to take the best care of yourself while you’re pregnant and I’m definitely eating healthier now.”
