New York Fashion Week officially started on Thursday, but fashion designer Prabal Gurung helped kick it off the night before with a party to launch the line he designed for Target. Gurung is the latest in a long line of designers to create a collection for the retailer and it’s likely to be just as popular as the others have been. The 80-piece collection includes clothing and accessories and is decorated with punchy prints inspired by love and the stages of a relationship.
The collection goes on sale tomorrow, but the celebrities and fashion industry insiders who attended the carnival-themed launch party got the chance to shop the collection early. Ne-Yo
Ne-Yo walked the red carpet in a black and gray ensemble and later surprised the crowd with a performance of his hit songs “Let’s Go,” “Give Me Everything,” and “Let Me Love You.”
Carey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan wore a loose-fitting light peach blouse and black pants and pumps at the party. She accented the look with dark eye makeup and had her blonde hair slicked back.
Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth Olsen wore a turquoise and salmon-colored dress accented with a black belt and a black coat. She looked like she was having a great time as she mingled with Gurung and Ne-Yo on the red carpet.
Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones walked the red carpet in a blue blouse and black slacks and reportedly made a beeline for both the food offered inside the event and for the pieces of the collection that were for sale.
Analeigh Tipton
Analeigh Tipton wore a brightly printed dress topped with her mom’s vintage army jacket and a gray scarf at the event. She said she borrows her mom’s clothes all the time now because she realized how cool they are.
Olivia Thirlby
Olivia Thirlby is the face of the Prabal Gurung for Target campaign, starring in a romantic commercial to promote the line. She showed up to the party in a floral dress by the designer.
