5 Stars Who Responded to Kanye Stage-Rushing Beck at the Grammys

The 2015 Grammys still have people talking after Kanye West stage-rushed Beck when he was accepting his award for ‘Album of the Year’. Although many thought the rapper was playing around, he later commented that he felt the musician didn’t deserve the Grammy and that it should have gone to Beyoncé. These 5 celebrities have all shared their own thoughts on the very memorable moment, many believing Kanye was wrong to ruin Beck’s big moment.

50 Cent

50 Cent said that Kanye didn’t recognise how talented Beck is: “[Beck] produced the record, he wrote the record. There’s 11 producers on Beyoncé’s album – Kanye, being a producer and a writer should see that, but you get jaded.”

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy thought it was a joke at the time: “We love Beck too. So you never want to let it get too dark there. We were [sitting] right behind Kanye. I actually thought it was a silly funny joke… I didn’t realise he was serious.”

John Legend

John believes Beck deserved to win: “When I said that was funny and people should lighten up about it, that’s what I meant. I wasn’t referring to Kanye’s comments after the show which I have now seen and heard. I disagree with those comments. Beck is indeed a true artist’s artist. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, a creative and unique singer-songwriter whose music I have bought and enjoyed over the years. While his win may have been a surprise to many, it’s not because he’s not a great artist deserving of recognition.”

Lady Gaga

Gaga commented that Beck was very deserving of the award and doesn’t see how Kanye missed that:  “It is very strange to see people who don’t know Beck or don’t realize how important he is to music. He’s a musical genius, listen to him.”

Shirley Manson

Shirley thinks Kanye was the one being disrespectful on the night: “It is you who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like Beck.”
