Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict finds it amusing and doesn’t take it seriously: “It bemuses me still. It’s utterly the most inept superpower you could possibly imagine: ‘You’re really famous, and you’re a sex symbol. Go!’… There’s nothing you can do with that, other than be amused. Which I am. It makes me giggle. It’s fun, but I’m old enough to realize it’s not to be taken seriously. But it does make me twinkle.”
Daniel loves the idea of being viewed as a sex symbol: “If anyone sees me that way, I’m delighted. That’s awesome.”
Matthew was once voted sexiest man and even called his mother when he found out because he was so thrilled: “It’s cool to be considered sexy – it’s an honour. I like it and am happy to be called that. When I got the call I laughed. Then I called my mum. She said, ‘It’s about damn time’. I said, ‘Thank you mum. I couldn’t have done it without you!'”
Megan thinks it’s an important part of her job so she has embraced it: “I think it’s wonderful I’m viewed as a sex symbol. I didn’t decide I’m going be an actress because I want be respected for how I play chess. Part of Hollywood is being perceived as attractive.”
Sharon says she enjoys the title: “It’s a pleasure for me now. I mean, I’m gonna be 56 years old. If people want to think I’m a sex symbol, it’s, like, yeah. Think it up. You know. I mean, like, good for me. And good for every other lady of my age to feel themselves as a sex symbol. Because why shouldn’t we feel a sex symbol in our 50s?”
