Most big name stars have their own makeup artists that they use for public appearances, work or anything else – so it’s actually a surprise that some stars opt to do their own makeup! Some of these celebrities say they haven’t mastered the art of makeup yet because they so rarely wear makeup or have just always relied on makeup artists to do it for them. Others find it so enjoyable that they’ve ditched working with professionals and like to do their own as often as possible.
Gwyneth has never had to do her own makeup so has never learned how to: “I just I never do [use other make-up products]. I’ve been getting my make-up put on for me since I was 20 years old, so I never learned how to do it, and I’m really bad at it.”

Janelle sees doing her own makeup as part of the creative process: “It was just to make music on my own terms or create my own image, do my own hair, do my own makeup. It’s an artistic expression for me… That’s why I’m here today, because I’ve been able to be in control of that.”

Naomi is slowly learning how to do her own because she usually doesn’t wear much: “I’m hopeless at applying make-up. Luckily, I don’t wear much anyway and, for ease, I get my lashes and brows tinted. I only have a concealer, cream blush and lipstick in my purse. A make-up artist friend gave me some Burberry beauty products, which are fantastic.”
Shakira regularly does her own makeup and enjoys the process: ”I do my own make-up for my music videos and many of my pictures. I do have a few make-up artists that I like to work with occasionally, but most of the time I am my own make-up artist.”

Tyra is obsessed with makeup and loves doing it for other people too: “I love doing make-up. I used to do my own make-up at fashion shows and girls would line-up, like Heidi Klum would line-up: ‘Tyra, do my eyelashes; do my blush like you…’ I used to do a lot of the top girls.”
