Filming sex scenes must be hard – you’ve got to strip off in front of your co-star, your colleagues and the cameras – stress levels must go through the roof! These 5 actors and actresses have all opened up on filming difficult sex scenes which they describe as awkward because of the situation they’re put in. Some found they were pleased with the results once it was over so feel good about the experience, while some believe the awkwardness gives their sex scene an honest, real look.
50 Cent
50 Cent found it hard to concentrate with so many people in the room during filming for ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’:”I got comfortable working on the other scenes, then when we got to the love scene, it was a little different. It’s almost like being in a room naked with a bunch of people around you. In that case, it was 34 people on the set, it was tough.”
Zach Braff
In ‘The Last Kiss’ Zach had to perform an awkward love making session which he found hard: “Filming that scene was awkward. But that’s one of the things I like about the way the sex scene is done- the honesty of it. It’s not one of those sex scenes where he lays down on the bed and everything’s beautiful, shot through filters. It’s a fumbling, awkward, elbows everywhere kind of scene.”
Lea Michele
Lea filmed an awkward scene with her on-screen boyfriend in which she lost her virginity which she found daunting at first: “Oh my god, it was way awkward. I adore Cory. He’s like my brother and to have to do some of the stuff we did in front of our entire crew … it’s so less sexy than you think. Really, we were in a room with like 20 people around us, sitting by the fireplace. He was sweating so much. I was so grossed out! But I saw some photos and I was like, ‘Damn! We look good.’ As a fan of the show, it’s something I wanted to see for awhile and it’s very interesting how everything plays out.”
Justin Long
Justin was put off by the nudity and the amount of people who were needed to film the intimate scene: “I would say some of the naked stuff was a little uncomfortable. I think a lot of the really intimate, sexual stuff around a room full of thirty, forty grown men, that was a challenge. All the guys in my room, all the crew guys, were like trying to make jokes to keep it light. Or they were making sex jokes.”
Claire Danes
For ‘Shopgirl’ Claire had to film a sex scene with an older man which she found uncomfortable at first: “A friend told me, ‘It’s good you’re doing it at 25. When you’re 80, you’ll look back on this and think, I was pretty firm, so there’s that.’ It was uncomfortable, I have to say, but I did think that it was relevant and useful. Also, it’s erotic. There’s no reason to pussyfoot around that. I thought it was vital, so I stripped.”
