Could you give up love to try and make the big time? These 5 celebrities all say they had to sacrifice their personal relationships in order to work hard at any opportunities they were given, and if they hadn’t they might not have made it to where they are today. Some are still not in relationships because they feel they don’t have time to start something serious because they’re so work orientated and it wouldn’t be fair on their partner. Others decided not to focus on love while they worked on their careers so they could give it their all. It may seem sad, but they’ve weighed up the pros and cons and decided that love has to wait so they can get the most from their work while they’re lucky enough to get the chance to do so.

Christina says that during her teen years she missed out on some romances because she was so driven to become successful: “I never went through that completely boy crazy phase because I was always so goal orientated in what I wanted as a performer, and I think knowing that was my form of independence.”
Gaga says she’s previously had to walk away from a romance because of her job: “My greatest sacrifice is love. I’ve only ever been in love once, and I had to walk away because I had to put my career first. He wanted me to stay at home and be with him; I wanted to be out there trying to make it on stage. It was a huge lesson for me, but it’s also a source of sadness. God gave me a gift with music, but if you have gifts you also have weaknesses. My weakness is not being able to make relationships work.”
Jessica is working on so many acting projects that she’s letting her personal life slide so she can make the most of it:”I’m happy and fulfilled. Rashida wants to take advantage of her lucky career break and doesn’t have time for love with all of her work: “This is a little bit of a choice for me. My career is paramount at the moment. I’ve had a lot of luck in the past couple of years. And I want to be open to it and available to it. And my career right now is very time consuming. And I like it that way. It’s good. I’m acting and I’m writing and it’s taking up a lot of my energy. I’m also… you know, I’m picky.”
Tarantino had to call off his relationship with an unknown women to make ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and he believes it’s a choice he’ll keep making so he can focus on directing: “I’m not saying that I’ll never get married or have a kid before I’m 60. But I’ve made a choice, so far, to go on this road alone. Because this is my time to make movies. If (his recent romance) had happened, I wouldn’t have made Inglourious Basterds. Or I wouldn’t have made it with the same intensity. And it wouldn’t be finished now. “
