We all have them: the big fashion faux pas we hope will someday disappear forever. Everyone can’t dress perfectly all of the time (Kate Moss excluded) and we’ve all had those big fashion fails that we hope will never see the light of day again. These 5 stars have all spoken on their fashion regrets. Some made their mistakes recently, such as Anne Hathaway, who at the last second changed her Oscars dress and hated the decision she made afterwards. Sarah Jessica Parker may be famous for always doing her own thing when it comes to style but she seriously regrets opting for a black wedding dress. Anne Hathaway
At this year’s Oscars, Anne changed from a Valentino gown to a Prada dress at the last minute because the Valentino design was too similar to Amanda Seyfried’s look. She later regreted the change: “It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth once wore a sheer Alexander McQueen gown to the Oscars which she didn’t wear with a bra. She doesn’t completely regret the dress but believes it could have been styled better: “There were a few issues; I still love the dress itself but I should have worn a bra and I should have just had simple beachy hair and less makeup. Then, it would have worked as I wanted it to – a little bit of punk at the Oscars. I have to say that since I started working with stylist Elizabeth Saltzman and have put my red carpet looks in her hands, I think they are all pretty maje.”
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert wore platform shoes to the Oscars because he wanted to feel tall but he now realizes they looked goofy: “I said, ‘Damn, she’s not going to be taller than me this year, not on my night.’ I wore these Ziggy Stardust platform shoes. Imagine leather shoes with five Goodyear tyres on the bottom.”
Rose McGowan
Rose wore a full fishnet dress back when she was dating Marilyn Manson which she showed off at the MTV Music Video Awards in 1998. She can’t believe that people still remember the dress: “I had a 103-degree fever, so I can’t say my decision-making process was at an all-time high. I knew it would cause a stir, but, truthfully, I didn’t understand how long things stay around.”
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah wore a black wedding dress when she married husband Matthew Broderick and says she wishes she had worn a white gown now: “(I would) white it up. I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn on that day. James Wilkie’s teacher is getting married, and he said, ‘Do you think she will be wearing black?’ I said, ‘No! I can almost assure you.’ Then he said, ‘Do you still regret it?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I still regret it.'”
