When it comes to getting hitched, there are plenty of brides who think about every single detail obsessively. From the obvious dress conundrum to the flowers, setting, music, invitations and more, it can get a little creepy when those about to walk down the aisle get extremely obsessive about every little thing being just perfect. These 5 stars have all said that they refuse to turn into bridezillas as their big day approaches. Some have since tied the knot in simple, small ceremonies that just weren’t fussy. Others just say that when it does come to their time to wed they won’t want their wedding day to be a huge big deal and will do their best not to become a massive control freak!
Anna Paquin
Anna wanted her wedding to just be about family and wasn’t interested in fussing about the details such as her dress: “It feels organic. It’s more about being family that becoming Bridezilla overnight and wearing some big meringue wedding dress. That would scare the s**t out of me. I wasn’t the girl who spent hours dreaming of my wedding.”
Cameron Diaz
Cameron thinks that when she does decide to get married in will be quickly planned and a very small ceremony: “The mystique and the romance of a big wedding are lost on me. I don’t think that I could ever do something that extravagant. I am not much of a planner. I would probably make the phone call twenty minutes before the bus leaves for the chapel and ask if anyone is available to come. That’s probably how my wedding is going to end up.”
Jessica was intending on marrying Eric Johnson but she didn’t want to get married once she found out she was pregnant because she was worried her hormones would turn her into a bridezilla: “No, we’re not going to get married first. We were talking about having a wedding; we were gonna throw something together, but I would rather put more time in it and be able to really enjoy the day. When you’re pregnant your hormones go crazy; I don’t wanna be super stressed out and end up being a bridezilla (demanding bride). So, I’ll wait until after.”
Jessica kept a level head when planning her wedding to Justin Timberlake and was happy to let a wedding planner do the detailed work: “I’m just pretty much cool as a cucumber in general in my life. So no, I’m cool. I’m one of those people who is not very detail-oriented. I’m sort of the big idea person, so I’ll probably give an idea and then let it be created.”
Pike’s engagement to director Joe Wright fell through just weeks before their wedding and the actress had to clear up rumors that their relationship ended because she was a bridezilla: “All this stuff about organising flowers and cakes! It’s like, no way. The truth is that I hadn’t even tried on a f**king wedding dress. When you’re an actress you’ve so many chances to do the fairytale thing. For me it wasn’t about the wedding at all, it was about the marriage. I was really interested in marriage, and what it means, and what one promises. I take that very seriously. Naturally I’d rather not be thought of as Bridezilla, but apart from that I care less and less about what people think.”
